The BCM943224HMB module combines Broadcom's Bluetooth 3.0 and dual-band 802.11n SoCs onto a Half MiniCard, bringing best-in-class wireless features to increasingly smaller notebook PCs and Netbooks.

Like all of Broadcom's InConcert modules, the BCM943224HMB uses superior coexistence technologies to mitigate interference and ensure the best possible wireless experience for PC users. Broadcom's unique algorithms intelligently manage Bluetooth and Wi-Fi traffic to maximize performance, despite very little radio isolation - even when both radios are used at the same time.

BCM43224- Dual-Band802.11n 2x2PCI Express? Half MiniCard

The BCM43224 is a single-chip baseband/MAC/radio all-in-one die with integrated dual-band power amplifiers for 2x2 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz 802.11n applications. The low-cost CMOS implementation for MAC, Baseband, and Radio allows integration with Broadcom's Cable/DSL/Set-top/VoIP chipsets. The BCM43224 has the industry's first integrated dual-band 802.11n power amplifiers, eliminating the need for external power amplifiers, significantly reducing the rest-of-BOM (RBOM) and footprint.

This solution is fully compatible with IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 and 802.11a/b/g legacy devices. It has two transmitters and two receivers with optional 802.11n Draft 2.0 modes to allow data rates supporting up to 300 Mbps. Broadcom'sIntensi-fi? XLR increases rate vs. range of existing 802.11n networks. The increased rate and range provides user satisfaction and reduces product support call volume. This single-chip 65 nm solution with integrated dual-band power amplifiers drives down the cost of 802.11n solutions into the consumer and media space. The highly integrated CMOS and low-power modes result in a 50 percent power reduction compared to previous generation solutions.

The Broadcom BCM2070 is a monolithic, single-chip, stand-alone baseband processor with a high performance integrated 2.4-GHz RF transceiver. It is fully compliant with Bluetooth 3.0 and all prior standard features. Processed using advanced 65-nm LP CMOS technology, the BCM2070 offers an unmatched integrated solution with the smallest footprint and lowest cost of implementing a Bluetooth system.

The use of the advanced 65-nm process enables the BCM2070 to achieve Broadcom's smallest package size and lowest possible current consumption in all modes of operation. The BCM2070 has an architecture that has been designed to take advantage of the High Speed standard. Its superior integrated RF design enables much higher output power and lower input sensitivity, which makes the BCM2070 the ideal solution to support all Bluetooth modes. The built-in Class 1 PA, which is capable of transmitting +10 dBm output power, can be enabled with 2.5V power supply. Together with Broadcom's leading Packet Loss Concealment (PLC) technology, which reduces packet loss and bit error rates, the BCM2070 can effectively combat interference and reduce dropped connections that result from distance and physical obstructions.
